We believe that speculative fiction isn’t just writing — it’s the act of weaving brand new worlds.

The Brass Tacks:
World Weaver Press is a publisher of fantasy, paranormal, and science fiction, dedicated to producing quality works, operating out of Alpena, Michigan.

Our titles can be purchased in paperback and ebook editions through Amazon, BarnesandNoble.com, Kobo, OmniLit, and other digital and print distributors of books. Ask your local Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, or IndieBound store to carry copies.

We are closed to unsolicited queries except during the following 2014 periods: February 1-28, June 1-30, and September 1-30.

Our Mission:
To publish, market, and distribute quality speculative fiction that engages the mind and ensnares the story-loving soul.

We believe in great storytelling. We believe in challenging genre boundaries and engaging the fundamental human drive to tell stories that resonate emotionally. The way we do it is by partnering with great writers to craft the best fantasy, paranormal, and science fiction stories possible. By creating beautiful, well designed paperbacks and ebooks. By growing their publicity. And by fostering a family of authors excited to work with us. We just happen to make great books.

For more about our philosophy on where we stand in the world of publishing, see our posts on “Bridging the gap” and “Time to go pro.”

A note about publishers vs publishing services:
As a small press, we are owner operated but otherwise function as any other traditional publishing house. We are not a “vanity press” or seller of “publishing services.” This means we read and reject many submissions which we are not in love with. We accept the projects we are passionate about, edit and refine their content, copyedit them, format layout for paperback and multiple ereader platforms such as Kindle and Nook, develop cover art for them, sell them on multiple storefronts, and publicize them through media outlets. We don’t charge our authors fees; we pay them royalties.

Our Staff:

Eileen Wiedbrauk, Editor-in-Chief
Eileen Wiedbrauk is an editor, writer, coffee addict, cat herder, MFA graduate, fantasist-turned-fabalist-turned-urban-fantasy-junkie, Odyssey Workshop alumna, photographer, designer, tech geek, entrepreneur, avid reader, and a somewhat decent cook. She wears many hats, as the saying goes. Which is an odd saying in this case, as she rarely looks good in hats.

Elizabeth Wagner, Publicity Manager
Elizabeth Wagner is the publicity manager for World Weaver Press. The daughter of two librarians, she has spent her life surrounded by books.

Stephanie Sauvinet, Reading Editor
As the reading editor for World Weaver Press, Stephanie happily meddles in slush pile goodness. She wanted to be an archeologist for a long time just so she could find the Stargate but settled for the endless possibilities of the SF/F genres. She is a science-fiction nerd who doesn’t get tangled in the “Are you a Star Wars fan or a Trekkie?” debacle because she loves both and doesn’t see why she would have to choose between Luke and Picard (Pike or Kirk if you’re going old school.) When she doesn’t read or write, Stephanie practices as an oncology nurse, loves puzzling her cats by speaking French and enjoys the wonders of New Orleans. Her twitter: @StephanieSauvin

Guest Editors
World Weaver Press works with guest editors primarily for anthologies, including Kate Wolford, Rhonda Parrish, Bascomb James, and Meira S. Marom.

Other Staff
Heather Talty, copy editor. Kaitlyn Koby, Summer 2013 Intern. Elissa Kaner J.D., Legal Counsel.
